The Emerald Empire was founded by eight divine siblings. One of these, Kami Hantei, became the first Emperor while the remaining seven each founded a great clan based on their worldview. Their descendants continue to function as Clan Champions of the clans. A ninth sibling, Fu Leng, was not involved in the creation of the empire since he had fallen far to the south and became the lord of the Shadowlands.
